In a few hours time we were able to come up with a plan to streamline all the functions of the studio and make it a more inspiring place for Helen and her guests to work in:
This is the entrance to the studio. Initially the space served many purposes -- storage, cutting space, displaying finished designs and displaying the handbag designs that clients could design their custom bags from
After much discussion about all that happens in the studio we decided that this area would work best by combining all the elements together to make a "design your own area". Now clients looking for custom bags can choose from sample designs, select their fabric and choose embellishments for their bag all in that one area.
This space housed a LARGE piece of sewing equipment that Helen didn't use. Stuff was dumped on top of it with even more stored below. Helen was able to sell the piece, and organize the area. See how it turned out below:
Now that the unused equipment is gone there's room for Helen to put a much needed cutting table with efficient storage underneath!
It's great fun to document the transition of a space with pictures like this. The space feels better ... and works better!
