All month I’ve been posting tips and information about feng shui for bedrooms and romance. Today I wanted to share some aromatherapy tips for the bedroom to help enhance either sleep or romance – you get to choose!
It may seem off topic to mention aromatherapy, but the goal of feng shui is to shift the energetic vibration of a space to positively affect the occupants. Adding pure, therapeutic grade essential oils to a space does exactly that! Each essential oil has a unique vibrational note, and when you add it to a space it shifts the mood of the room and acts on the occupants of the space directly too, by positively affecting their frame of mind.
Different essential oils can affect various changes, from calming a room and its occupants to adding energy and vitality. Used properly, essential oils are non-toxic and free of harsh chemicals and side effects found in some home products or pharmaceuticals. This is one thing that really can’t hurt to try. And if you’re like me, once you’ve tried it you’ll fall in love with using aromatherapy too and start using it everywhere!
As mentioned throughout the month, bedrooms should be reserved for rest and romance. If you’re not getting enough good solid sleep while in your bedroom then try some of the feng shui tips I’ve mentioned on the facebook page. And then for a little icing on the cake, try out some of these essential oils that are known to cause relaxation when used in low doses:
Roman chamomile, lavender, geranium, clary sage, marjoram, and/or vetiver
And if you’re looking to spice things up in the bedroom with some more passion and romance, be sure to try the feng shui tips to create a space for passion and top it off by stimulating all the senses with aromatic essential oils that can have aphrodisiac-like effects:
Ylang ylang, rose, jasmine, palma rosa, sandalwood, and clary sage
There are many ways to get essential oils to disperse in your space to create the mood you want. Electric diffusers are one option, but an easier option is to place a few drops of your chosen oil or blend of oils into a bowl of steaming water. Close the door and let the steam carry the scent through the room. It’s also easy to add a few drops to a spray bottle full of water and spray it in the room or on the sheets. And of course you can always add the essential oils to a base massage oil and apply it directly to your body. This way the benefits of the oils are received through the skin and by breathing it in.
Have you used essential oils before? What are your favorite scents and how do you use them in your space? Whether you choose to use oils to calm your space or spice things up, you’ll notice the difference as soon as you add them in. Give aromatherapy a try and let me know what you think!
